Israeli CEO Accuses Slovenia of Political Bias After Flight Ban

(MENAFN) Slovenia blocked the landing of a plane chartered by Israeli airline Israir on Wednesday, turning away the aircraft over missing permits, an Israeli public broadcaster reported.

The aircraft — operated by Croatian carrier Trade Air on Israir's behalf — was rerouted toward Croatia after Slovenian authorities denied clearance, according to the broadcaster.

Israir CEO Uri Sirkis wasted no time firing back, branding the denial a politically motivated act. Sirkis attributed the decision directly to Slovenia's "clear opposition to the policies and direction pursued by Israel."

As of the time of reporting, the Slovenian government had issued no official response to the incident.
