IRGC Quds Force Demands Israeli Withdrawal from Lebanon Positions

(MENAFN) The commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force has called for Israel to pull back from positions in Lebanon that it held prior to the outbreak of what he described as a broader US-Israeli war against Iran, according to reports.

Esmail Qaani said in remarks carried by Iranian media that support for the “resistance” in Lebanon is a duty for Muslims and that removing Israel from the region is achievable.

“Support for the resistance movement in Lebanon was a duty for all Muslims, and that removing Israel from the region was an achievable objective,” Esmail Qaani said in remarks carried by an Iranian news agency.

He added that the core demand of what he described as the resistance movement is for Israeli forces to withdraw to positions they held before the beginning of the recent conflict period.

“The essence of the resistance's demands is the withdrawal of the occupying regime (Israel) to the positions it held before the start of the 40-day war,” he added.

Qaani also said Lebanese fighters would soon witness the results of their continued resistance efforts, according to the same remarks.

Separately, Israel’s military stated it would continue operations in southern Lebanon despite a trilateral declaration announced in Washington a day earlier that outlined a ceasefire agreement framework, according to reports.
